Why Coaching?
Coaching is essential to growth, development, and to achieve ones true potential. It helps us break free of the constraints that hold us back, both our own as well as those imposed by others. Today coaching is used as a standard practice in many organizations, especially with senior executives and leaders. Many leaders and managers rely on coaching to support them in their growth and development, and in working with them to increase their performance and productivity.
We all wish we had more time, and coaching creates an opportunity to clarify and highlight what is most important, what is most fulfilling and satisfying, and to prioritize and align our lives to maximize our enjoyment and aliveness in life.
Whether it is professional or personal life, coaching has proven to make a profound difference in the lives of individuals and teams. It is a customized and personalized approach for figuring out what is most important in our lives, what we desire most, and then being powerful, inspired, and courageous to go after it.
Types of Coaching
Both business coaching and life coaching share similar characteristics. The interactive and dynamic approach is the same, but the areas of focus and goals tend to differ slightly. Because we do not live our lives in silos, both types of coaching address the whole individual because it is sometimes challenging to separate our work and personal lives. We are still the same person, though we often tend to adapt our attitudes and behaviors to integrate better with our surroundings and situations.
Business and Executive Coaching
This type of coaching is targeted towards business professionals, executives, leaders, and managers. It provides a one-on-one customized approach designed to meet the style of the leader. It is flexible and adaptable to meet their changing needs and demands of their professional situation. Like coaching in general, it is focused to support the leader's true potential by guiding their growth and development. Though the focus tends to be more on professional goals, it also addresses aspects of one's personal life since both work and personal life impact each other. Focus areas often include topics such as leadership skills, self confidence, career management, interpersonal skills, work/life balance, communication and conflict management, influencing others, team building, stress management, time management, goal setting, personal vision and mission, motivating self and others, teamwork, and a sense of purpose and direction.
Life Coaching
This type of coaching can include many elements of Business Coaching, yet it is targeted more towards personal and life aspects of the individual. It provides a personalized and customized approach to meet the needs and style of the client. Focus areas often include work/life balance, self confidence, personal courage, health/fitness, well-being, relationships, personal goal achievement, stress management, time management, overcoming fear and self doubt, getting unstuck from work or life situations, and career path management and changes.
